Shell counts Niger delta security costs

Shell spent at least $383mn on security in Nigeria between 2007 and 2009, according to company data leaked to non-governmental group Platform. The payments included those to rebel mili- tia in the Niger delta in an attempt to reduce attacks on oil and gas facilities, Platform alleges.
