Petrobras faces $2.4bn tax bill

Brazilian state-controlled Petrobras faces a 4.78bn real ($2.4bn) tax bill for unpaid withholding tax related to the leasing of oil platforms used offshore Brazil, the company says. The 29th federal court of Rio de Janeiro rejected Petrobras’ claim that the firm was exempt from withhold- ing income tax for the payment of vessel charters in 1999-2002.
