Tapi construction nears start

Construction of the much-delayed 33bn m~3/yr Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan- India (Tapi) gas pipeline will start in December, Indian oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan says. Turkmenistan has previously said that Tapi would deliver gas in 2018, despite security problems in transit countries Afghanistan and Pakistan that have dogged the 1,800km, $8bn project (WPA, 28 November, p11).
