Mideast Gulf oil producers are looking into alternatives to using natural gas to generate steam for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects. Gas is in short supply in the region (WPA, 27 April, p7). But EOR projects targeting heavy oil are key to sustaining production in Oman, Kuwait and the Neutral Zone that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait share.
