The Yemeni government says an agreement reached at a national dialogue conference in late December “paves the way for establishing a unified state, on the basis of federalism and democracy”. But the country’s oil industry remains wary after repeated attacks on the 115,000 b/d Marib pipeline. Yemen endured a turbulent end to last year, after its two main pipelines were simultaneously off line for four days at the end of December. The Marib pipeline remains shut, following attacks on 20-21 December by disgruntled local tribes, while a leak took the 100,000 b/d Masila pipeline off line on 28-31 December.
