North American independents pare Asia-Pacific presence

North American upstream independents are continuing their retrenchment from Asia-Pacific as US firm Apache and Canada’s Talisman Energy become the latest operators to consider major divest-ments in the region. Apache is seeking a buyer for its 13pc stake in the Chevron-led 8.9mn t/yr Wheatstone LNG development in West-ern Australia,while Talisman may sell all or part of its Asia-Pacific portfolio,which is forecast to produce 140,000 b/d of oil equivalent(boe/d)this year.
