South Africa GTL struggles

South African state-owned PetroSA’s 34,000 b/d capacity gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant at Mossel bay is faced with “significant challenges” because of its diminishing offshore gas resources. The company in August dropped its plans for a floating LNG (FLNG) import terminal at Mossel bay that could potentially have supplied the GTL plant, because of technical and cost challenges (WPA, 29 August, p9).
