Shell boosts gas processing in Iraq

Basrah Gas (BGC), Shell’s joint ven-ture with Iraq’s state-owned South Gas, has boosted its associated gas process-ing to 490mn ft3/d (5bn m3/yr) from the 240mn ft3/d that South Gas was pro-cessing at the end of 2011 when the joint-venture deal was signed. The amount of associated gas that BGC is processing at the Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair fields will reach 500mn ft3/d by the end of this year, rising to 2bn ft3/d by 2020.
