Drs Stannard, Brohi, and Tai of the Royal London Hospital in London, England, have reported on the 2010 status of "vascular trauma" evaluated and treated at major treatment centers in the United Kingdom. This is a scholarly report on both the international development of approaches to vascular trauma and the specific current expertise and programs within the United Kingdom, with the greatest emphasis on the current status in London, England. The article is presented from the standpoint of preset and standard definitions. Such definitions set the limits within our current systems of care and the use of existing databases. Conversely, in considering the totality of vascular trauma in the United Kingdom, one must recognize what has not been cited.
