Since liquid detergent capsules (LDCs) have been introduced into commerce beyond the classic powder and liquid formulations, a new type of household products became a potential serious risk to children's health. Liquid detergent capsules have small dimensions and their colored "candy-like" appearance can be very attractive for young children; furthermore, their polyvinyl liquid encasement is strong when dry but easily soluble when exposed to aqueous liquids such as saliva or moist skin.
