Abdominal pain in Henoch-Sch?nlein purpura and its association with superior mesenteric artery syndrome

We read with great interest the paper entitled "Superior mesen-teric artery syndrome: Risk factor for duodenal involvement in Henoch-Schonlein purpura" reported by Harada etal.1 We admire their excellent clinical research. Based on our understanding, we believe that their main argument is as follows: "aorto-mesenteric angle (AMA) and aorto-mesenteric distance (AMD) are lower with significant differences in Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) cases in which duodenal wall thickening and decreased peristalsis are present, compared to healthy control cases; therefore, superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome is a risk factor for abdominal pain caused by duodenal lesions from HSP."
