摘要

A growing challenge in medicine is providing health-care to children undergoing immunosuppressive therapy. Research indicates that a significant proportion of cancer survivors will develop at least one late effect of immunosuppressive therapy. Pediatric disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease and juvenile idiopathic arthritis often necessitate the use of corticoste-roids, tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors, and chemotherapeutic agents such as methotrexate, which alter the immune response and increase the risk of infection.
