Getting invited on a proper international press launch by VW UK is scary stuff when you've not been on one before, as I hadn't until the email from the VW press office arrived in my inbox. Sure, Elliott had been on a few over the years for new GTIs and the like and we've both been on more than a few UK-based launches for all sorts of things between us but international press launches are a different ball game altogether. Why? Well, there was a ridiculously impressive hotel, chartered flights (not the norm, apparently, although it has to be said you do feel a little rockstar on them), food so fancy I had to Google what it was and plenty of people that you might like to call proper motoring journalists - out of my depth? Yeah, you could say that!
