It has been about 5 years since the Chinese demand for pecans really began to make itself known. How will the relationship with one of our biggest customers fare over the next 5?I remember sitting in a sheller's meeting about that time and all the talk was about how could the industry get growers to service domestic needs first and how could they get growers to plant more acres so that production would increase enough to absorbthe new demand and prices basically remain static. Time has answered these questions and plantings in the pecan belt as well as overseas are increasing dramatically, particularly in the past 2 to 3 years since it became apparent that this brave, new world the grower finds himself in is perhaps not a fluke, or is it?
