It is hard to believe that the 2013 season is just around the corner and it will soon be time to start placing your PNC pheromone trap orders. Over the years there have been numerous articles on pecan nut casebearer management and the importance of using pheromone traps to detect the onset of the first-generation adult moth flight and this month's article is serving as a reminder that it is time to place those trap orders. As a general rule, we feel that 3 traps are sufficient for a 50-acre orchard or less and at least 5 traps for orchards larger than 50 acres.
