From the Farm — Tropical Storm Arlene

As I sit writing this, Tropical Storm Arlene is a few hours from making landfall in the Mobile, Alabama area, By the time you read this, the effects of this storm and possibly others, will be evident. Though we have not had any high winds from Arlene,it has been raining since noon yesterday and the wet weather is expected to continue for another 48 hours or so. This is on top of two to three weeks of unusually wet weath- er in Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. Mid May through the Fourth of July isnormally a dry period here, a chance to catch up from the scab pressure of spring and get ready for a normally wetter July and August when nut scab prevention is most important, This year, however, there has been no break and the tropical storm season wasted no time in making its appearance.
