Reflections on childhood pecan lessons

A little over 5 years ago my wife and I purchased some land south of Caldwell, Texas in Burleson County. We are fortunate to have a creek passing through the property with a few native pecans. Over the past month or so I have been "harvesting" my natives - - harvesting the same way I did some 45+ years ago, on my knees with a 5-gallon bucket. As I have been picking my crop I have thought back to my childhood and the lessons I was unknowingly learning about pecans.
