Our 2015 crop at the Texas A&M orchard is in dire stress and needs water. We have/had a great crop on 'Pawnee', 'Desirable', 'Kanza' and some USDA hybrids. All other varieties have a zero crop. Our season started great with more spring rain than ever.The early season foliage was great. We learned how beneficial early season rain can help a crop. The rain and humidity resulted in a scab problem; but we sprayed and scab appears to be in check.The 2015 crop follows a heavy crop last year. Half of our 'Pawnee' trees cropped, half had zero. The 'Desirables' in all 3 orchards are loaded for the second year in a row and this is for 5 straight years. At least 10 USDA hybrid trees are loaded.
