It has been established worldwide that bascule bridges are most suitably built for ports and inland rivers due to their structural and economical factors. However, the bridge's opening process subjects its pavement to a critical stress condition, which would jeopardizes the lifespan of the structure. This issue is important to address because the pavement plays a key role as the structural layer that guards the bridge deck against moisture as well as offers high sendee quality and skid resistance.
