摘要

One of the prime research areas in today's scientific world has been in the area of renewable energy and nanotechnology. Of late, solar photovoltaics (PV) used in the generation of electricity from sunlight have emerged as a valuable resource in the renewable energy sector. Commercial solar cells are manufactured using silicon-wafer-based technology, which involves a complex process of refining and purifying the silicon. Hence, solar cells are very costly and this is the major challenge for large-scale commercialization of solar energy systems.
