摘要

The recent publication by Godefroid et al. (2010) provides a realistic view of the current state of plant reintroduction projects. Utilizing a literature review and a survey questionnaire, the authors make a convincing case that reintroduction successis generally lower than desired. The authors highlight a suite of factors affecting reintroductions, including site selection and preparation, propagule selection, and genetic variation of the target species. However, the authors did not query survey respondents about their use of positive plant interactions, nor did their literature review seem to include reports of the successful use of those interactions in plant reintroductions. I suggest that consideration of positive interactions by Godefroid etal. may have resulted in higher estimates of reintroduction success, in addition to informing their recommendations for improving future reintroduction efforts.
