In greenhouse production, the optimal fertilization to maintain maximum production depends on the water use and nutrient requirements of the plants. It is commonly known that a high concentration of nutrient salts in the fertigation solution causes water stress, ion imbalance, ion toxicity, or a combination of any of these adverse factors whereas a low concentration results gradually in nutrient deficiency in plants.
