The International Peat Society(IPS)

As many peat and peatland experts are not yet familiar with the International Peat Society, we have asked Ms Carotin Winter, who worked for as trainee for the IPS Secretariat in August-September 2005, to give an independent overview on the IPS, its tasks, structure, its past and future projects. The International Peat Society (IPS) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, which has 1,371 members from 37 different countries (31 December 2004). Constituted in Quebec, Canada, in 1968, today the IPS is registered in Finland where the IPS Secretariat also is located.
