Since its establishment effectively 75 years ago, the main objective of Bord na Mona has been to develop the bogs of Ireland for the industrial scale production of peat in order to provide an indigenous energy source for the people of Ireland. In recent decades the company has expanded to embrace the businesses of horticultural peat production, renewable energy, and environmental and resource recovery services, in turn creating a growing and dynamic company that can continue to sustain itself into the future.
