Wim Tonnis Peat Award

The Wim Tonnis Peat Award was launched at the Annual Assembly of IPS In Warsaw in May 2005, following a recommendation from Wim Tonnis, former Chairman of the IPS Dutch National Committee. The Wim Tonnis Peat Award will be conferred annually on a member of the International Peat Society for a distinguished contribution to the peat and peatland science or industry, especially in the promotion of Wise Use. The Wim Tonnis Peat Award shall be presented annually at the Annual Assembly of IPS. The recipient will be required to give a brief acceptance speech. The award is sponsored by the IPS in the form of a framed scroll and a cash prize of 1,000 euros.
