In the first of our new Past Master series, Martyn Morgan Jones meets Mr. Touring Cars, the one and only Andy Rouse. Educated at Newent Grammar School in Gloucestershire, Andy Rouse did well academically, but his real passions were driving and engineering, as he reveals. "I was brought up on my parent's farm, surrounded by farm machinery, cars, and motorbikes. There was plenty of open space. It was an ideal environment and I spent as much time as I could driving anything and everything. As well as driving, I loved taking things apart and repairing them. What I really wanted to be, was an engineer. My dad wanted me to be an agricultural engineer. He was probably thinking that it would save him money on repairs!"
