After three years off the road, and countless hours of hard graft, Gordon Ogilvie managed to get his Escort RS Turbo finished the day before his wedding. The happiest day of his life for sure - and marrying his wife Fiona was a nice treat as well! Remember the days when the classifieds were full of pristine, unmolested Escort RS Turbos? Well if you do, then you've got a good memory! These days, finding a decent Series 2 RST for sale is getting harder and harder, for the simple reason, of course, that most have either been crashed, fallen victim to terminal tinworm or been squirreled away in private collections, only to see the light of day for selected shows - and only then when the sun is shining. Yes, it is still possible to find a handful for sale (a quick scan online will reveal half a dozen or so) but you'll either have to factor in lots of money to bring a cheaper one up to scratch, or pay over the odds for one that claims to be in excellent condition, and even then, you never know what might be lurking behind that distinctive '80s plastic trim. All of which means that the Series 2 RST, much like its older and more hardcore Series 1 RST sibling, is fast approaching full-on classic status. And seeing one in the metal, especially one as good as Gordon Ogilvie's pristine example, really is something of a rare treat.
