Let's just put this out there, the elephant in the room, the unspeakable truth. This Sierra, which is to all visual intents and purposes a Cosworth, does not have a YB engine. Why? Because owner, Alan Evans isn't a fan, mainly because every one he's owned has blown up at some point. His solution to this, after some trial and error, came from the Far East, the land of precision engineering and getting things right. The solution, dear readers, came from a Nissan. Yup, under the bonnet of this Sierra lies a CA18DET and the car is all the better for it. Now that's all well and good, but the reality is that this particular car has been though a number of engine and significant-changes during the 13 years or so that Alan has owned it. It started life as a humble XR4i, which from a visual standpoint wasn't to Alan's liking. As such, he set about getting rid of the most annoying visual trait - the extra pillar in the rear side windows. This meant the liberal use of power tools and so on, and it quickly ended up with Alan realising it was a fruitless and seemingly never-ending task.
