The words 'Escort Cosworth' and 'sleeper' are not usually seen in the same sentence - but Glenn Sone's Cossie proves it's possible! How would you describe a sleeper? Well, there's no dictionary definition, but we'd have said a sleeper is the kind of car that boasts huge power but which hides it behind unassuming looks; the kind of car that takes care not to shout too much about its performance. The kind of car, in short, that can surprise people when they least expect it. So, this begs the question: can you ever call an Escort Cosworth a sleeper? Its looks certainly aren't unassuming; the bodykit means it shouts about its performance loudly; and people expect it to be fast. So on the face of it, the answer would be 'no'. But we'd dispute that, and we'd submit Glenn Sone's example as evidence. Here, you see, is an immaculate, super-clean example of the breed that's totally standard - or as near as makes no difference - but divert your gaze to the left and have a look at the engine spec.
