Fiat opts for ABB paint robots for new Mirafiori line

The interior and exterior surfaces of seven different body models in the Fiat and Lancia ranges are painted on a new line at the company's Mirafiori factory in Turin, using 25 ABB 'IRB 5400' painting robots and 14 special mechanical hands, also supplied by ABB - the latter for the automatic opening and closing of doors, bonnets and boots to facilitate painting.
