OVER-THE-COUNTER LEFT-LUGGAGE SYSTEMS ARE TAKING OVER FROM LOCKERS AT AIRPORTS WORLDWIDE. A recent study has shown that many major transport terminal operators are transferring to over-the-counter left-luggage systems. This is happening for a variety of reasons, but especially in order to maximise storage and cross-selling revenues. Other advantages include improved security (passengers' luggage is searched before they enter the luggage locker area but they may be carrying anything on their person), better use of often limited space, and the ability to cross-sell a range of baggage and other services at the airport.
