Many processes directly and indirectly involved with the preparation and treatment of metal surfaces can generate hazardous levels of noise, including pumps, generators and abrasive treatments. As all of these are often in excess of 85dB - the upper action limit under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations - there needs to be an effective plan in place to avoid putting the health of workers at risk.
