Message from the Director

I attended the 52nd session of ESCAP in Bangkok from 17 to 24 April 1996. The report on the CGPRT Centre was discussed in the Committee of the Whole III "Poverty alleviation through economic growth and social development (Agenda Item 6-c)". On the second day of the session, I gave an introductory statement. As the time was limited, the statement could only briefly outline the Centre's activities. The major part of the statement is as follows: "First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the continued and warm support extended to the Centre by the members and associate members of ESCAP during these years.
