If you have ever stood on an ocean beach watching surfers riding the big waves, you know it can really be a thing of beauty. Experienced surfers seem to have a knack of making it look effortless and elegant, catching a wave and riding it almost endlessly along the leading crest or within the curl. These experts seem to have a sixth sense, understanding the effects of tide, wind, sun, and other factors they can't control, but must understand when they want to catch the long, big wave. Metaphorically,the interaction of currency exchange rates, pulp and paper commodity prices, and the use of financial tools can create 'price wave' opportunities. These waves last far longer that what sellers and buyers are accustomed to achieving in the physical market.
