The North American OSB Industry...The Consolidation Continues

Last week Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. completed the acquisition of Potlatch Corporation's OSB division consisting of three orientcd-strand hoard (OSB) mills in Minnesota. This acquisition comes on the heels of the purchase by Ainsworth of Boise Cascade's Voyageur Panelhoard Company. Ainsworth. a publicly traded Canadian company, now becomes the fourth largest OSB producer in North America. The top five OSB producers now control 7l.4% of the market, and the top 10 producers control 92.79%. In 1995. thetop five producers had a 50.0% market share.
