A three-dimensional sheet-like micromaterial Eu _(0.15)La _(0.85) (TTA) 3phen has been synthesized by the oil-water interfacial self-crystal growth method at room temperature without the assistance of any surfactant, catalyst, or template. The resulting micromaterial consists of uniform microsheets with a length of 500-800 nm, width of 300-400 nm, and thickness of ~80 nm. The appropriate overlap between absorption of ligand TTA and excitation of the microsheets indicated that TTA can efficiently transfer the absorbed energy to Eu ~(3+). Furthermore, the maximum intensity peak was located at 613 nm, which shows the microsheets show pure red emission.
