Dust Suppression during Particle Board Manufacture

Good housekeeping is a common and necessary objective across many sectors of industry - not least in the manufacture of engineered wood products. One of the basic housekeeping challenges in the production of particleboard, OSB, MDF and other forest products is control of the dust generated at various stages of the process. Project engineering at the South Molton mill of Norbord has found a simple cost-effective answer to a recurrent problem of airborne dust in the chipping area of the plant by installing a water misting system of new and unconventional design. Success here has led to the impending installation of a similar, more extensive system at Norbord's Cowie mill in Scotland.
