Whilst the PITA Office would never qualify as a member of the Energy Intensive Users Group, in our own modest way we do our best to keep Energy Costs down and Reduce our Carbon Footprint; hence we have an ongoing programme to improve energy efficiency in the PITA Office. Having done all the usual things to reduce heating, lighting and electricity costs, it was time to embark upon a slightly more ambitious project! Over the Christmas Shut (this does sound more and more as if I am describing a Paper Mill), we will be investing in Solar Panels on the office roof that will generate up to 3.5 kW of electricity. Some of this will be used to reduce electricity costs in the office (reducing our consumption by over 50%, assuming the sun shines), but the bulk will be fed back into the National Grid and we will receive the current 'Feed In Tariff' (FIT).
