A Re-evaluation of Factors Controlling Print Rub on Matt and Silk Coated Papers (Part 2)

Print rub,one of the greatest challenges in the production of matt,offset coated papers,is the theme of a recent study that indicates that the most resistant surface to print-rub is a pigmented coating with high capillarity and high surface area.These properties aid:i) absorption and adsorption and ii) the compressibility of the base paper coating structure,such that contact shear forces are minimised.
