Update on Training- Operator Development Programme

It was not that many years ago, when I took my first position in a Paper Mill as 'Process Controller' of the, then, Bowater Mersey Mill in Ellesmere Port. In those days, it was almost obligatory for any new start in a management, production or technical role to undergo some basic training in Paper & Board Production (assuming they had not graduated through one of the excellent colleges and / or university departments that existed at the time). In my case, my introduction to paper came through the City & Guilds Qualification, taught 'in house' by some of the long serving members of staff in the mill and the opportunity to progress to more intensive studies leading to a degree in Paper Science and beyond.
