Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL) has been accused of dodging an enquiry into its deforestation practices in Indonesia by withdrawing from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Arctic Paper is to reduce headcount and capacity at its Mochenwangen mill, Germany, by closing PM1 -a 2.4m machine with 18ktpy capacity of mechanical book paper. In June the Nigerian tissue producer Bel Papyrus Ltd started PM3, their new 23ktpy Toscotec production line installed in Lagos. Toscotec also supplied the previous two machines, and is currently planning PM4, slated at 28ktpy to start in late 2015.
