The tipping factor: China's power in the world pulp market

Chinese buyers are exerting tremendous influence on world fibre markets,and consequently on the prices European mills pay for both pulp and recycled fibre,see pages 6 and 7.The latest statistics from the Pulp and Paper Products Council in Montreal show that Chinese demand for market pulp grew by 1 million tonnes in 2004,up to 6,591 million tonnes from 5,562 million tonnes in 2003.
