Improvement in price for many RCP grades but not all

Following a slight dip during December, domestic prices for low grade recovered paper (RCP) picked up again this month on the back of brisker market activity. UK prices for old corrugated containers (OCC) and mixed paper moved up in unison with export levels with Chinese buyers in particular continuing to soak up volume. While prices have improved for these grades, they are still well down on 2011 levels. The expectation is that demand will remain good in the short term with Chinese mills sitting on lower than normal stocks.
