Volume of graphic paper purchases hits 19-year low

The UK market for graphic paper contracted in 2011 by 4.8% (–283,750 tonnes). The decline was the third in the past four years with the volume of purchases – at 5.572 million tonnes – representing the lowest total since 1992. Only one sector – coated mechanical – bucked the downward trend with other graphic paper grades continuing to be affected mostly by competition from other technology.
