At the time of writing the rate had dropped to a 10-month low at ￡1/US$1.54.The movement reflected mounting concerns regarding the UK’s public finances plus a surprise rise in interest rates for emergency bank loans by the US Federal Reserve to 0.75% from 0.5%.
