Palm oil supply and disappearance: a review.

This paper reviews the palm oil supply and depletion in Malaysia. An increase of 6.1% in the Malaysian production of palm oil from 14.962 million tonnes in 2005 to 15.881 million tonnes in 2006 was recorded. This is a smaller growth than that in 2005 over 2004, of 7.1%, suggesting that the palms were in a slower production in their cycle. In January-June 2007, domestic depletion decreased by 2.8% or 31 030 tonnes to 1 072 304 from 1 103 334 tonnes in 2006. The decrease in domestic depletion was mainly attributed to the tight supply and high prices currently being experienced.
