Combined IR and Air Drying Systems Improve Energy Efficiency

The first contact free drying systems combining infrared (IR) and heat convection were introduced by Bekaert more than 40 years ago. Since then many paper and board producing companies worldwide have discovered firsthand that installing infrared drying systems directly after the coating process can significantly improve paper coaling quality. In addition, recent installations have shown that combining infrared with air drying systems can also improve energy efficiency.
