Virtual permits are now a reality: Serco has introduced Dash virtual permits in the London Borough of Brent

Serco was awarded the West London Alliance contract in 2013 to manage parking IT and enforcement at Hounslow, Ealing and Brent. One of the boroughs, the London Borough of Brent, was considering the introduction of virtual resident permits as a way of eliminating time-consuming and costly paper-based systems. The scratchcards used for resident visitor sessions were particularly costly to produce, prone to fraud and had to be sent out in the post or collected in person. The introduction of an online solution for permit applications and renewals, would also enable the council to close parking shops.
