Palliative Medicine uses different mechanisms to promote the highest quality reporting of research in its pages. We have editorial processes, we have peer review, and we have author guidelines. We take our obligations as part of the wider procedures to improve the design, conduct and reporting of research seriously. Our author guidelines have not been reviewed for some time, and so we have taken time to scrutinize and review them and ensure they are fit for purpose. The guidelines are not meant to generate more work for authors, but are instead intended to facilitate the quality and flow of information between editors, reviewers, authors and readers.
