I had the privilege to speak on "The Pallet Industry - A World of Changes Lies Ahead!'' at the Western Pallet Association's (WPA) annual meeting this January. Initially this topic was chosen for a banquet presentation, but it eventually became the "lead off presentation on one of the strongest programs in WPA history. Probably no other part of the country has seen more change in the pallet industry than the western states. The pallet recycling industry may be even more dominant in Southern Californiathan in other parts of the country. Hispanics dominate the work force, and Hispanic ownership is now common, particularly in Southern California. My first visit to California came at a western regional National Wooden Pallet and Container Association (NWPCA) meeting in 1977. From the seventeen pallet companies that attended the meeting.
